New  HORRENDOUS INJUSTICE!  ILLEGALS PUT A POLICE OFFICER IN PRISON

    {Webmaster's Message}
People keep telling us they're against the Border Fence because "it won't work" or that "it's a waste of taxpayers' money." OK, we admit...the building of the Border Fence WON'T SOLVE the problem of illegal immigration. Neither will a farmer's fence keep EVERYONE out of a farmer's field. The purpose of a fence is to make uninvited access more difficult...to discourage people from entering places that they have no business entering ...and to tell perpetrators emphatically... uninvited entry will bear consequences. Let's be honest about it. The United States needs to tell Mexico once and for all.... illegal immigration won't be tolerated. The Border Fence is simply our best first step...and about the only step our politicians have ever taken in this direction. Please keep this in mind as you browse this website.

Illegal Immigrant Gives Birth Shortly After Apprehension

{It's not that this is "news"...it's just another example of what we are allowing to happen}

By KEVIN SIEFF/The Brownsville Herald

BROWNSVILLE — An illegal immigrant went into labor after being apprehended by Border Patrol officials Thursday evening.
The woman, whose name, age and nationality were unknown, was caught at about 5:30 p.m. after crossing the Rio Grande into east Brownsville. She told Border Patrol agents that she needed medical attention and was taken to Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville, where she went into labor.
(If this gal REALLY needed "medical attention" we doubt if this husband-less pregnant babe would risk crossing the River in the first place....which pretty much demonstrates one major reason illegals invade our land. Hint: It's not to.... "DO THE WORK AMERICANS WON'T DO"...even though the liberal left and un-main stream news nets keep feeding us that crap.
Stationed outside the woman’s hospital room was Border Patrol Agent Ortiz, who refused to give his first name.
The sound of her baby’s heartbeat — amplified by an ultrasound — could be heard through the door of her hospital room.
"I know that sound," Ortiz said. "I heard it when I had my two children."
(duh....this guy had no hint whatsoever why this "undocumented" female was taken to the hospital. Ahhh, give us a break!)
Border Patrol officials did not comment on what will happen to the woman and her child after they are released from the hospital. According to the 14th Amendment of the Constitution, any person born on American soil is a United States citizen. (Right...why bother to comment. It's all about B-E-N-E-F-I-T-S)
"Our primary goal was to get her medical attention," said Oscar Saldaña, a spokesman with the Border Patrol Rio Grande Valley Sector. (And here we thought all along...the purpose/role of the Border Patrol...was to keep illegals OUT of OUR Country).
In September, after an illegal immigrant gave birth on the banks of the Rio Grande, the woman and her child were discharged from the hospital without being taken into custody by the Border Patrol, according to Brownsville Herald archives. (Just another one of 'dem productive illegals we keep hearing about, huh?)

[The only real "war" currently being fought...is the war waged against our citizens...by politicians, socialists, liberal democrats and a multitude of illegals and their pals...who desire nothing more than to sap the productive fruit of this great Country]

PLEASE HELP CORRECT THIS HORRENDOUS INJUSTICE AGAINST A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER

For over nine years, Stephanie Mohr has been protecting her community as a county police officer.  She now needs your support.  In 2001, Mohr was forced to resign when she was unjustly convicted of a crime.  Her police dog bit an escaping illegal alien who was a suspect of burglary.  She is now serving her fifth year of  the ten year sentence, with a seven-year-old son waiting at home.

In 1995, Mohr was answering a call for backup about two men that were burglary suspects.  These two suspects, Ricardo Mendez and Herrera Cruz, who are illegal aliens, were ordered to face the wall by Mohr and several other officers.  As they were ordered to do so, Mendez made a movement that Officer Mohr thought was an attempt to run.

As Mohr was trained to do, she let her police dog go.  The dog chased Mendez, grabbed him on the leg, and held him.  The procedure that Mohr followed to capture the suspects was within standard police guidelines.

Mendez and Herrera were convicted of 4th degree burglary and were then deported.  The two illegally re-entered the U.S again and were arrested for selling crack cocaine.  They were then deported a second time.

Five years after this incident occurred, the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice indicted Stephanie Mohr and two other policemen on civil rights violations and conspiracy charges.  Mohr was indicted just one day before the statue of limitations was set to expire.

The version they (the convicted and deported illegal aliens) told was of course different than what actually happened.  Mendez claimed that Officer Mohr let her dog go without just cause.  Mohr was not found guilty (the Jury voted 11 - 1 in favor of acquittal) of conspiracy but the jury could not agree on a decision on the civil rights charges.

A re-trial was held in August 2001.  It was scheduled even though the jurors from the first trial said that the case lacked merit.  At this trial the prosecution convinced the jury that Mohr had released the dog on innocent minority citizens.  Officer Mohr was convicted of a federal civil rights violation and was given a maximum sentence of ten years in prison.

In the second trial, the judge allowed prejudicial testimony into the evidence that Mohr had used racial epithets in making a prior arrest using her canine.  The charges did not start out as racial but the prosecutors needed to save their case.  This questionable evidence should not have been allowed into the courtroom.

Stephanie is now serving her fifth year in prison, while her son is also serving his fifth year without his mother by his side for his birthday, Christmas, and other major milestones in his life.  We fought to have her granted a new trial, but lost. We are appealing to the 4th U.S. Circuit Appeals Court.  There is no longer any parole so if we do not succeed, Mohr will have to finish out the ten year sentence she does not deserve; a sentence that her child does not deserve either.

We are trying to help Stephanie Mohr in any way we can.  But, we cannot do it alone.

LELDF is The Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund.  Our organization's main focus is to assist law enforcement officers when it is necessary for them to defend actions taken in the line of duty to enforce the law.

For Mohr to apprehend Mendez and protect the public, she had to take extreme measures.  Though some believe that the procedure she used was not right, she did not have a choice.  This is what Mohr was trained to do as a police officer and she did not cross any boundaries.  Stephanie followed the guidelines of standard police procedure.

The prosecutors claim that Mendez and Herrera are innocent minority citizens.  This claim should not even be valid because they were not citizens here in the United States, they were illegal aliens.

Mendez, an illegal alien, is receiving more taxpayer-funded benefits from our judicial system than Mohr, who is a police officer that has been protecting the public for over nine years.  This is absurd and that is why Stephanie needs your support.

Our law enforcement professionals need to know that we are behind them and appreciate the work they do.  These officers put their lives on the line to protect us everyday from any threats and further terrorist attacks.

LELDF is asking you to show your support by giving a gift of $25, $50, or any amount that you can afford.  This gift of any amount is tax-deductible since LELDF is a non-profit organization.

Any amount that you give will greatly impact our efforts towards helping Stephanie Mohr.  We are assisting her with the legal costs for her appeal, costs she and her family must bear, while the Mendez and Herrera, illegal aliens, get to abuse our legal system while the taxpayers are the only ones paying the bills.

We firmly believe that Stephanie Mohr's sentence is unjust.  Since 1993, she has received more than 25 letters of commendation and two awards for her police work.  This is not an officer that should be in prison.

Stephanie is the mother of a seven-year-old son and deserves to be with him.  Your support will mean so much to Stephanie and her son.  He has spent five birthdays without his mother and does not deserve to spend another one alone.  By showing you care, you could help a mother, son, and family reunite.

Mohr came to LELDF for assistance and we hope to support her in every way possible.  This is why we need your help as well.  As a citizen of the United States, we need to show our police force that we value their service.

Any donation that you give will be greatly appreciated.  You will make a huge difference in the lives of Stephanie and her son.

We thank you for your support.

David H. Martin
Chairman
Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund

P.S.  Stephanie Mohr was only doing her job as she was trained to do.  There is no reason why a mother should be torn apart from her son because of an illegal alien that should not even be in the U.S.  Won't you please click here to help LELDF defend Stephanie Mohr? Thank you!

What Did Teddy Roosevelt Have to Say About Immigration?
Check out our Forum to find out.  Of course, Roosevelt was talking about LEGAL immigration.  A hundred years ago people weren't swimming across the River to get on our gravy train.  That train didn't exist.  Back then, we didn't have SSI, food stamps, Social Security for the children of "undocumented aliens" and a few dozen other welfare programs.

The Wisdom of Andy Rooney: Being Illegal, Speaking English and Pandering for Victim Status:
I don't think being a minority makes you a victim of anything except numbers.
The only things I can think of that are truly discriminatory are things like the United Negro College Fund, Jet Magazine, Black Entertainment Television, and Miss Black America. Try to have things like the United Caucasian College Fund, Cloud Magazine, White Entertainment Television, or Miss White America; and see what happens...Jesse Jackson will be knocking down your door.
Guns do not make you a killer. I think killing makes you a killer. You can kill someone with a baseball bat or a car, but no one is trying to ban you from driving to the ball game.
I believe they are called the Boy Scouts for a reason, which is why there are no girls allowed. Girls belong in the Girl Scouts! ARE YOU LISTENING MARTHA BURKE ?
I think that if you feel homosexuality is wrong, it is not a phobia, it is an opinion.
I have the right "NOT" to be tolerant of others because they are different, weird, or tick me off.
When 70% of the people who get arrested are black, in cities where 70% of the population is black, that is not racial profiling; it is the Law of Probability.
I believe that if you are selling me a milkshake, a pack of cigarettes, a newspaper or a hotel room, you must do it in English! As a matter of fact, if you want to be an American citizen, you should have to speak English!
My father and grandfather didn't die in vain so you can leave the countries you were born in to come over and disrespect ours.
I think the police should have every right to shoot you if you threaten them after they tell you to stop. If you can't understand the word "freeze" or "stop" in English, see the above lines.
I don't think just because you were not born in this country, you are qualified for any special loan programs, government sponsored bank loans or tax breaks, etc., so you can open a hotel, coffee shop, trinket store, or any other business.
We did not go to the aid of certain foreign countries and risk our lives in wars to defend their freedoms, so that decades later they could come over here and tell us our constitution is a living document; and open to their interpretations.
I don't hate the rich; I don't pity the poor
I know pro wrestling is fake, but so are movies and television. That doesn't stop you from watching them.
I think Bill Gates has every right to keep every penny he made and continue to make more. If it ticks you off, go and invent the next operating system that's better, and put your name on the building.
It doesn't take a whole village to raise a child right, but it does take a parent to stand up to the kid; and smack their little behinds when necessary, and say "NO!"
I think tattoos and piercing are fine if you want them, but please don't pretend they are a political statement. And, please, stay home until that new lip ring heals.
I don't want to look at your ugly infected mouth as you serve me French fries!
I am sick of "Political Correctness." I know a lot of black people, and not a single one of them was born in Africa ; so how can they be "African-Americans"? Besides, Africa is a continent. I don't go around saying I am a European-American because my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather was from Europe. I am proud to be from America and nowhere else And if you don't like my point of view, tough...
I
PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG, OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA , AND TO THE REPUBLIC, FOR WHICH IT STANDS, ONE NATION UNDER GOD, INDIVISIBLE, WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL!
I was asked to send this on if I agree or delete if I don't. It is said that 86% of Americans believe in God. Therefore I have a very hard time understanding why there is such a problem in having "In God We Trust" on our money and having "God" in the Pledge of Allegiance. Why don't we just tell the 14% to BE QUIET!!!

Next time you see an Illegal Immigrant just give him or her a couple of hundred dollars more out of your wallet. That is what it will by next year at the rate they are coming into the US.
Are we THAT stupid???

I hope you forward this to every legal resident in the country, including every representative in Washington , D.C. , five times a week for as long as it takes to return rationality to our immigration policies and enforcement.
Is there anyone running for office who would make a difference?
Think about that when you vote.

*THE METHODIST CHRUCH VS THE UNITED STATES*
Some Methodist ministers (name them) say churches must continue to shelter
illegal immigrants although they may face legal repercussions. (Of course, the Bible teaches "respect for the laws of the land as long as they don't promote immorality) The ministers spoke at a news conference in Fort Worth organized
by the United Methodist Church's immigration task force. (Isn't a chruch supposed to teach THE WORD...and not political action? Can anyone say "Reverend Wright?") More comprehensive church legislation on immigration policy is
expected during a 10-day general conference.
The ministers say the new sanctuary movement is an important act
of civil disobedience (We can't find a single Biblical reference for 'civil disobedience') that challenges laws many consider unjust
. (Of course, 'many' isn't anywhere near the vast majority who consider illegal entry into this Country....contemptuous and illegal)
part of the movement, churches of various denominations nationwide
provide refuge to illegal immigrants.
(Yep. A lot of folks violate our laws. Those who do so face prosecution. Why shouldn't we expect the Methodist Church and its merry band of pulpit homos proper treatment?)
The United Methodist Church allows but does not require churches
to house illegal immigrants. (
Our Government oughtta help the Methodist Church...by not allowing them tax free status. Then they could really put their money where their "heart" is)
The new sanctuary movement stems from a broader movement in the
1980s after some congregations provided help to thousands of
refugees fleeing human rights violations in Central America. (Of course...illegals aren't fleeing Mexico these days.... for "human rights violations."
The Methodist Church has been "downsizing" for about 30 years now. There's good reason. They demand tolerance of homosexual "life-style", same-sex marriage and general antapathy of 'Christian values". . The message from the Methodist Church's is loud and clear.)

And Yet Another Example Of Bias Newspaper Reporting For the
Anti-Fence Crowd.
From The Monitor

Fourteen U.S. congressmen publicly criticized Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff on Tuesday for his decision to bypass more than 30 laws to expedite construction of the border fence. (Excuse us....but both Houses of Congress passed the law mandating the Border Fence which in itself pretty much bypasses "30 other so'called laws"....but just for the record...we'd really like to see what "laws" they're referencing. Interesting how this newspaper report fails to detail any of those "laws". Well...I guess we'll just take their word for it, huh?) The legislators called on the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn the 2005 law that granted him waiver authority, setting up a potential legal battle over what critics are calling one of the most significant power grabs by the executive branch in years. (Well.... Looks like this reporter now admits there IS a "law" granting Homeland Security waiver authority. So, what's the beef, amigo?) "This waiver by the secretary of Homeland Security is a direct challenge to Congress's constitutional role," said House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Bennie G. Thompson, D-Miss., in a written statement. "The American people entrust Congress to ensure that the laws of this land are faithfully executed - not excused - by the executive branch." (I guess Bennie G figures we've all got a constitutional right not to take off our belts and boots while passing through airline security.  Maybe Benny G would like to challenge that "law" as well) The Department of Homeland Security deems the waivers necessary to meet the congressionally mandated deadline for completing fence construction by the end of this year. Ongoing lawsuits could delay the process for years, Chertoff said while announcing he would invoke his authority last week. "Criminal activity at the border does not stop for endless debate or protracted litigation," he said at that time. Unfazed by that rhetoric (notice how biased this newspaper guy really is.  Chertoff has "rhetoric" while those in opposition to the Congressional Mandate for the construction of the Border Fence "voice genuine concerns and criticism.")  Thompson and his dissenting colleagues announced Monday that they would file a brief in support of environmental groups challenging the constitutionality of Chertoff's waivers. Their ranks include several U.S. House committee chairs and legislators whose districts won't be directly affected by the barrier, indicating that efforts to block fence construction have gained support outside the border region. South Texas U.S. Reps. Silvestre Reyes, D-El Paso, and Solomon Ortiz, D-Corpus Christi, are among the congressmen who signed Monday's announcement. (It's all in the surname...hmmmm) "I do not support DHS' continued disregard for border communities," Reyes said (Hey Silvestre...do you oppose blatant "disregard for National Law" against those who enter our Country illegally? We know it's a toughy...but..just for the record). ("This recent attempt to bypass more than 20 laws and regulations to pursue an already ill-advised idea should not move forward."
(20 laws? Looks like we just lost 10 of these laws somewhere since the start of this article).

SWEEPING POWER Congress granted Chertoff the power to waive "all legal requirements" and limit appeals-court oversight as part of an amendment to the 2005 Real ID Act. At the time, the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service said "waivers of similar breadth do not appear to be common in federal law." So far, Chertoff has invoked that authority on six occasions - four times between 2005 and last year for projects in California and Arizona and twice more last week to facilitate remaining fence construction along the southwestern border. In each case, DHS has pledged to continue working with environmental advocacy groups to address their concerns. But two organizations - Defense of Wildlife and The Sierra Club - sued the government in October after Chertoff's congressmen's offer of support Monday could help third waiver, which allowed government contractors to begin fence construction on an Arizona wildlife refuge. (OK, so now it's a wildlife issue. Makes us wonder exactly what kind of wild life these anti-fencers are really wanting to protect.) the Real ID Act's provisions violate constitutional separation of powers by virtually eliminating court oversight and granting the executive branch power to side-step Congress and repeal federal laws. (Funny how these guys seem to have no problem with illegals ...those who violate National Law by invading across Our Border.) The Supreme Court has not yet decided whether to hear arguments in the case, but the pressure justices to consider it, said Brian Segee, staff attorney for Defense of Wildlife. In the interim, border fence construction continues. (The Border Fence is law...approved by both Houses of Congress, Democrats and Republicans, then signed by the President. That makes it pretty damn constitutional any way you look at it.) "If the case is picked up, it almost certainly won't be heard until the fall," Segee said. "There will be damage done that is hard to reverse." (Actually, most of the damage has already been done.
Illegals have been sapping our resources dry for decades
)

SURVEY SUITS CONTINUE Current plans call for 370 miles of fence and 300 miles of vehicle barriers along the southern U.S. border. So far, 309 miles of fencing have been erected, varying from metal barriers to impede pedestrians to concrete posts designed to block vehicles. But from local leaders who say they were not consulted about plans to build in their areas, to landowners who claim the government failed to negotiate rights to access their property, Homeland Security has come under intense criticism for the way it has handled the fence's development stages. (In reality, most criticism comes from the vast majority of Americans who wonder why it's taking so long to build the Fence). Eight landowners in Hidalgo and Starr counties remain engaged in federal court battles to try to thwart government efforts to conduct surveys on their properties. (If border landowners can't control their property and prevent illegals from entering our Country across their land, then they're part of the problem. The Federal Government has every right to defend the integrity of our Nation and to protect our citizens).  At a hearing March 17, they argued U.S. Border Patrol agents failed to negotiate terms of access and threatened them with lawsuits if they didn't comply. But so far, U.S. District Judge Andrew S. Hanen has ruled on only one of the cases. In a decision handed down last week, he said "the United States engaged in a bona fide effort to negotiate" and ordered Los Ebanos landowner Pamela Rivas to let surveyors on her property. (Can somebody explain...why almost all opposition to the building of the Border Fence seems to come from people with family ties to Old Mexico?) Rivas' attorney, Celestino Gallegos (Uhh...i.e. Rivas...Gallegos i.e. surnames...Oh...we comprende senior) of Texas RioGrande Legal Aid, has filed an appeal. "Their attitude is: ‘We're the government - we can do whatever we want,'" he said. "Waiving laws and not following statutes - I think it's pretty much par for the course." (Looks like guy Gallegos doesn't consider defending  the illegal invasion across our land...a violation of law. Somebody please....please tell Amigo Celestino... Congressional Law pretty much supercedes a landowner's right to host a pachunga for those swim the Rio at night.

Illegal immigrants going underground as enforcement increases
James Osborne December 22, 2007 - 10:11PM

PROGRESO — Angela wouldn’t think twice about walking a mile up the road for a quart of milk when she first moved to one of the colonias west of Progreso three years ago. Then U.S. Border Patrol agents picked up three men from the neighborhood outside the local convenience store and deported them. Nowadays, Angela barely leaves the neighborhood, forgoing everything from grocery shopping to doctor visits. (Interesting how newspaper folk in this area never seem to have a problem finding illegals when they want to)
"We never used to see Border Patrol," Angela, a 32-year-old illegal immigrant from Matamoros, said in Spanish. "Now they drive through the neighborhood. When they come by I just stay inside the house and hope they don’t come to the door." (Ironically, the Border Patrol could remove all her fear by deporting her back to Mexico) As the U.S. government continues its crackdown on illegal immigration, those immigrants living in the Rio Grande Valley without paperwork (Without paperwork? The word is ILLEGAL!!! Save the syrup for huevos and pan dulce) are increasingly shying away from public life, social workers and Mexican officials said. They fear recent successes in getting illegal immigrants to seek healthcare and other services are being undone and pushing people back underground"We never used to see Border Patrol," Angela, a 32-year-old illegal immigrant from Matamoros, said in Spanish. "Now they drive through the neighborhood. When they come by I just stay inside the house and hope they don’t come to the door."As the U.S. government continues its crackdown on illegal immigration, those immigrants living in the Rio Grande Valley without paperworkare increasingly shying away from public life, social workers and Mexican officials said. They fear recent successes in getting illegal immigrants to seek healthcare and other services are being undone and pushing people back underground
. (Fact is....illegals don't derserve one red cent of United States welfare/healthcare. Especially when they live a stone's throw from the border)
"A lot of people won’t even come to the Mexican Consulate because they think they could be detained by Border Patrol," said Luis López-Moreno, the former Mexican consul to McAllen, before leaving his post earlier this month. "We have a special arrangement (Translation...a whole lotta politicians are encouraging illegals to access health care in the United States where LEGAL citizens foot the bill), but they don’t know that. They’re scared right now."
(Maybe we can scare them all the way back to Mexico)
Since 2002, the number of deportations in the United States has almost doubled, according to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Perhaps nowhere is that trend more evident than in the Valley. The number of fugitive illegal immigrants arrested here in 2007 was up eightfold from the previous year, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Around Progreso, which is situated right on the U.S. border with Mexico, Border Patrol agents are a regular sight. Their trucks can be spotted driving down the main street, outside the dollar store; sometimes, they even park in front of a local social services office, said Angie Camarena, associate director of Migrant Health Promotion, a nonprofit health education and advocacy agency that serves migrant and seasonal farmworkers.
(Amazing how much taxpayers money these folks manage to siphon) "I see them out there at least a couple times a week," Camarena said. "Someone on staff, not me, told them there was no reason for them to be out there." (The councern is... ILLEGAL immigrtion...and National Security. Our Border Patrol has every reason to "be out there.") But local Border Patrol spokesman Oscar Saldaña said agents operate under a policy of not staking out facilities that offer aid to immigrants. (Seems to us...a place like that would be the most productive place be)
"That would be considered interior enforcement and that’s not our mission," he said. "We do have a lot more people out and about. People might think we’re doing something else, but we’re just patrolling the border."
The actual extent to which immigrants are staying away from health clinics or not setting up bank accounts is almost impossible to gauge, as the institutions involved maintain a policy of not inquiring about their clients’ immigration status
. (Let 'em start inquiring! We've got a national security problem and our public resources are being sucked dry by all these wonderful, "productive" chaps)
Grace Lawson, the executive director of El Milagro Clinic in McAllen — which provides healthcare to both documented and undocumented immigrants — said she hadn’t seen a drop in patients, though
. (Sounds like an excellent starting point for a research...on exactly how much money is being drained by poeple who "do the jobs that us lazy, unproductive citizens refuse to do. Why is it...everytime media hacks talk about illegals...they always refer to them as "hard working"...as if we Americans... never work hard?)
"Most of our patients are McAllen residents, not people from out in the county," Lawson said.
"The problem with colonia residents, out in the rural areas, is they don’t have transportation. They may not know the resources; they think documentation may be necessary."
(It damn well oughtta be)
While getting illegal immigrants around Progreso to a doctor has never been easy, it’s a task that has become much more difficult of late, said Lourdes Flores, a social worker with Migrant Health Promotion. "They used to be out walking in the park and doing all these things, but now they’re scared. They just stay home," Flores said in Spanish. (Their home is Mexico. Our home is the United States. And all of this is in English).
One of Flores’ clients, a 25-year-old mother from Mexico named Claudia, can’t send her 8-year-old daughter to school because she hasn’t had the necessary vaccinations. A number of medical clinics in the area provide healthcare to illegal immigrants, but Claudia said she is scared Border Patrol agents might be waiting outside While getting illegal immigrants around Progreso to a doctor has never been easy, it’s a task that has become much more difficult of late, said Lourdes Flores, a social worker with Migrant Health Promotion.  One of Flores’ clients, a 25-year-old mother from Mexico named Claudia, can’t send her 8-year-old daughter to school because she hasn’t had the necessary vaccinations. A number of medical clinics in the area provide healthcare to illegal immigrants, but Claudia said she is scared Border Patrol agents might be waiting outside. (Tell her to get the shots 2 miles south...over the Rio...then encourage them to stay put.)
Asked what she would do if one of her children were to become seriously ill, she buried her face in her hand.
"I don’t want to think about it," she said
.
(Maybe it's time she starts thinking about it. Most of us have little sympathy for Illegals who disregard our laws and choose to live where they don't belong. The put their offspring at risk.... by being here illegally.  And they continually sap the U.S. taxpayer.)

And yet another....Anti-Fence Media Bias Once Again  - Source: The Monitor
August 8, 2007

McALLEN - The federally approved fence planned along the U.S. border with Mexico could violate the U.S. Constitution, an environmental law expert says.
(Of course entering the United States illegally "violates the law"...but that doesn't seem to bother anti-fence folks.)
Speaking Wednesday evening at McAllen’s Palm View Community Center, Houston-based lawyer Jim Blackburn urged Rio Grande Valley residents not only to learn the law but to be ready to file a lawsuit when the time comes. (Wonder if Blackburn will be willing to file lawsuits against illegals who threaten landwoners on this side of the Rio....an even more lucrative endeaver....and he'd be working FOR the best interests of our Country to boot.). His comments came during an event hosted by the McAllen Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (We're dividing ourselves racially again?) and former Hidalgo County Judge Ramon Garcia focusing on questions about waging border fence legal battles.
(Their real focus oughtta be...the Mexican invasion of illegals and the economic harm they're inflicting on all legal citizens)
The Department of Homeland Security is set to build 370 miles of border fence along the U.S.-Mexico border by the end of 2008, a significant portion of which has been slated for the Valley. (It's wise to plug the biggest leak in the boat first...and our Valley boat is gushing.)
Many politicians paint the barrier as a means of stemming illegal immigration. They also say a fence would help prevent terrorists from entering the country.
But opposition to the plan has been fierce here in the Valley.
(Not as fierce as our local left-wing news media would want...but enough to sell a few papers)
McAllen Mayor Richard Cortez and others at Wednesday’s forum touched on economic, philosophical and human rights reasons not to build the fence.
(This is laughable....read very slowly.)
"Look at what’s the effect on the river itself," Blackburn told a crowd of more than 60. He explained that alterations to the course of Rio Grande caused by the fence could be a strong basis for a lawsuit.
(Cortez expects taxpayers to fork over money to pay for pointless proceedings against
this Congressional
Mandate? Anybody know if Blackburn
and Cortez are bosom buddies? Well....that oughtta be worth investigating)
"That may be one of the best legal answers," he said.
When details of the fence plans come out, Cortez and others in opposition should pay close attention and look for opportunities to file suit to try to stop the federal government from moving forward with the project, Blackburn said.
(Nice job and very lucritive...if you can get it, huh)
Whether opponents would have a good case depends largely on the fence’s exact location. If it interferes with the flow of the Rio Grande or even its floodway, it could violate an existing treaty. That would make it unconstitutional
(Not that entering the United States...or working against the best interests of the United States in favor of a foreign Country....Mexico...is...well...unconstitutional)
In 1970, the United States and Mexico signed a treaty relating to the natural boundary between the two countries. Both sides agreed not to interfere with the natural water flow of the Rio Grande.
(The natural flow from Mexico has always been against the United States... and the dumping of illegals on our soil violates the terms of the treaty to begin with)
If the border fence were to interfere with the river’s flow, it be construed as a violation of the treaty, Blackburn said.
Forum attendee Lisa Brodyaga, a lawyer from San Benito, asked if it would help to identify potential plaintiffs in preparation for a lawsuit.
"If we did that we could be one step ahead," she fleshed out."
(What...another lawyer wanting to file lawsuits? Sound familiar?)
Blackburn agreed it would help to organize sooner than later.

"There’s a lot of work to be done," he said, "and a lot more issues.  ( If Reporter-ette Zack were a real reporter, he could've asked.... 'how much money's being drained to pay for medical services, welfare, schooling etc to accomodate the flood of illegals here.' Looks like Zack job was merely to show up and provide a sounding platform for anti-fence folks. Then again...maybe he just didn't want to embarass Mayor Cortez, his lawyer buddies, family members....and all those others... in that large crowd of sixty.)

---------------------------------------------------------------

The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston may soon close its doors to poor illegal immigrants who need cancer care, (Notice the syrup here...actually they're treating hoards of illegals...many who don't have anything close to cancer)...a move that could increase the patient load in Harris County (What they mean....other hospitals in Harris County will start providing benefits for illegals, thus soaking al the rest of us.)The medical school, unable to meet the demand for cancer care by indigent patients with limited state funds, is considering a policy that would require patients to prove they're here legally to qualify for financial assistance. (Illegals are suppose to prove they're here legally just to be here) That would save the hospital system money but contradict its mission of providing care for the poor. (Wrong! That particular pledge is directed to U.S. citizens and those who are in our Coutry legally...it's not a pledge to all people in all other countries in the world) "Everyday, very difficult decisions have to be made because there are too few resources for the demand," said Karen Sexton, vice president and CEO of hospitals and clinics at the medical branch. (we figure there'd be plenty of hospital resources for our own citizens... if not for streams of illegals) The policy decision, which has been under consideration for months by the medical branch's Cancer Patients Acceptance Committee, is expected to be made by January and any changes would be effective immediately, Sexton said. If cancer patients are turned away in Galveston, they'll likely find their way to hospitals in Houston, health care officials said.(Hey...Isn't that the point we've been making all along?) "The Harris County Hospital District and probably to some degree M.D. Anderson can't help but be affected by this," said Dr. Ronald Walters, associate vice president for medical operations at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. "It should worry the taxpayers of at least Harris County." (Illegals worry all of us....they keep sapping the fruits of our nation;  Harris County is no exception.) All hospitals, both public and private, are required to treat emergency-room patients, regardless of whether they're insured or qualify for Medicaid. That requirement is straining hospitals across the country, and some have closed because of financial losses from treating the uninsured. (And without illegals....the strain wouldn't be a strain) It's also unusual for hospitals, particularly public ones, to turn away patients who need non-emergency care, although they're not required by law to treat them. But some facilities, including one in Fort Worth, now deny indigent patients who can't prove they're here legally as a cost-cutting measure. (Great move...but even better... call the Border Patrol every time an illegal shows up ...have them deported...thus denying them all the other handouts as well)

Demand vs. dollarsThe issue is part of a larger debate over immigration, particularly whether illegal immigrants should have access to taxpayer-funded services, including education. "When you stop providing care for one service, it becomes a slippery slope," said Lovell Jones, co-founder of the Houston-based Intercultural Cancer Center, a policy group. Turning away illegal patients presents opportunities for racial profiling, he said, and Hispanics are likely to be hit hardest.(Is this guy making the claim that Mexicans are the biggest problem...well....just for the record.) Others argue state residents should have priority when it comes to taxpayer-supported services. (Is there anyone who doesn't believe this....besides illegals and Lovell Jones?) "Every dollar the state of Texas or Harris County and the city of Houston spends on health care for people who aren't supposed to be in the country is a dollar they can't spend on citizens and legal immigrants," said Steven Camarota, director of research for the Center for Immigration Studies, a Washington, D.C.-based group that advocates tighter immigration controls. (Amen for this guy) Sexton, who acknowledged the issue raises ethical questions. (Here's an 'ethical' question...why should illegals feel they're entitled to anything at all...besides a few cold bologna tocos and a couple of nights in a holding cell)

What's the Real Cost of Having Illegals in this Country?
Next time you hear how great it is for illegals to be "doing the work that nobody else will do" check out this chart.  The cost to American taxpayers so much outweighs the miniscule amount of money "saved" by employing illegal fruit pickers and dishwashers that it's mind boggling.  You add it up.

Mayor Ahumada Will File A Federal Lawsuit Against Construction of the Border Fence
Ahumada is calling a special meeting and claims a group of lawyers from North Texas will attend (how much will this cost taxpayers?) to get an injunction against the building of the Fence. (Actually, the Mayor first claimed to oppose the Fence because...well...it'd be too expensive....then he claimed it wouldn't work...then he said it would destroy the enviornment...then he claimed it would stifle economic expansion...then he opposed it because it would hurt downtown business...and then...well...Mayor Pat is really into weirs these days)  Now he claims a weir is the way to go because that would rise the water level "12 - 26 feet" (if it's beautification he wants...let him pay for it.  National Security is the problem.) and that would "make it harder for illegals to swim accross."  (He believes a Border Wall would be easy to swim across?)  "The Border Wall...by their own admission...won't really stop illegal immigration" according to Ahumada.  (Hey...didn't Pat just say that a weir would make it harder to swim across...not "that it would end"...illegal immigration.)

All this from a guy who has yet to utter a single word of concern about the problem of illegal immigration or National Security.  We figure Mayor Pat must have left his heart in San Francisco.....Mexico.  Que Pasa, Amigo?

Notice how the local media here never seems to ask Mayor Ahumada and other anti-Fence Mexicamericans really tough questions....like....how much money is illegal immigration costing us....or...are you concerned with National Security....the extremely high crime rate committed by illegals, or disease, etc .

**Opinion Picks from Local Newspapers
. **
We've decided to include opinion pieces from local newspapers i.e. the issue of illegal immigration and/or the Border Fence. Attached are a couple of very contrasting viewpoints. Although we won't make a habit of inserting our personal comments into an opinion piece, we just couldn't resist this time. The first column clearly speaks for itself. The second piece is that of a local "doctor" (what type of doc, nobody seems to know) and deserving of our rebuttal. Enjoy!

We need to change some "laws" here in the U.S.

No. 1. If you are an undocumented illegal alien, you do NOT get the right to receive any type of government assistance, i.e.: housing, food stamps, free education. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi wants to pass a bill that all undocumented illegals get free higher education. HELLO, shouldn’t we take care of our own people first, the ones that don’t have the money to go to college, but don’t qualify for any type of government help?

This is just another slap in the face for Americans. And we should pass a law that states just because you have done some criminal activity, you CANNOT play the race card to not get punished. I’m tired of people saying "it’s because I’m black (or Hispanic)" that this happened to me. I wonder what would happen if we "white" people start playing the race card down here in the Valley. Trust me there are more white people being discriminated against here in the Valley, and throughout the U.S. than there is discrimination against other ethnic groups.

Just how complacent can one remain when our backyard integrity is violated for reasons other than what is publicly shown?
I’m referring to the border wall. My first reaction was disbelief Homeland Security brainstormed this "idea" to combat terrorism, knowing terrorists walk into the U.S. with visa in hand. Sipping coffee (caffeine does this?) I contemplate: "Why not wall the Canadian border?" (Well for starts doc...It's always wise to plug the biggest leak leak in the boat first. Canadians are not urging their citizens to wetback the Northern Border and hop aboard the U.S.'s over-generous welfare/SSI/Food Stamp/Free Medical bandwagon a' la' carte) The most dangerous terrorists entered through Canada! (The most dangerous ones are the ones we haven't found yet. You don't believe terrorists have figured out how easy it is to penetrate the Southern Border?) Suddenly, it’s because of illegal "Mexican" immigration, as if we weren’t aware this issue is decades old. Okay, so we are overridden by this phenomenon, but a wall to stop that? I don’t think so. It hasn’t worked up north, why would it work here? (We don't have a fence "Up North"..so I guess that's why it hasn't worked, huh?) Let’s face it; there is no physical obstacle a Mexican cannot overcome. We are very crafty! (WE? Are you, or are you not an American? Or, are you just an ordinery Mexico-First....kind of doc, doc?) Following this is the prison invasion Texas in general has been connived into. That’s where I draw the line and say, "wake up and do something!" First build a Wall, then build prisons to detain the illegal and "Bingo,"cash in on federal monies! (You mean...medical doctors don't cash those (gov't) compensation checks they receive for treating illegals?...not that you're a medical doc...but we just wanted to point that out) Children’s prisons earn $7,000 per cell per month. Big bucks? Do the math. (We did...and even we're amazed how much money U.S. taxpayers are forking over to house, feed, detain, and provide "free" health care...... for people who shouldn't be here in the first place) Then come complaints there are not enough illegals to fill the cells, so: the prison needs/wants more detainees to rake the profit? Am I missing the point? (It's more like you're missing the bus filled with men in white uniforms) We want them to cross for the prison business, but then, we don’t? Just don’t get it; actually, I’m playing dumb. (Playing...nah!)

Hutto imprisons children against human rights for big profits. Sick and tired of corporate America raping our best judgment, the wall will endanger the integrity of the Rio Grande and jeopardize the U.S./Mexico "Amigo" status we’ve respected from both sides of the border, anyway you look at it. (We've looked at it several times...and we can't figure out what you were trying to say here, doc. BTW, didn't you just argue against the Border Fence in the realm of National Securty? Now... you're claiming it's an issue of "mutual respect...and well...the "amigo" factor....) just express your opposition to the Border Fence Amigos, become aware of what is really going on in our back yard. Despierta, America! (And...press One for English?...You're  really needling us now....aren't you?)

McAllen Chamber Leads Opposition to the Border Fence

McALLEN — What do you do when the federal government announces it’s going to build a large, metal fence through your community and there’s nothing you can do to stop it? (Better question...why...in time of war and national security....would you want to stop it. And don't claim it's "the environment".)
Write your members of Congress, complain on talk radio … suggest a wall be built around Washington, D.C., and e-mail everyone you can think of to make it happen. (Sorry...way too late. The Wall...oops...Border Fence... was approved by the vast majority OF LEGAL CITIZENS as a way to curb ILLEGAL immigration. Would't it be better for the McAllen Chamber to email their Mexican amigos.... and encourage them to just stay put?)
Steve Ahlenius, president of the McAllen Chamber of Commerce, sent out an e-mail to 140 media outlets nationwide Tuesday morning with the subject line: "McAllen, Texas calls for wall around Washington D.C." (And we're calling for an economic/spending wall around McAllen, Texas)
"We feel the need to protect ourselves from bad legislation, bad ideas and a waste of tax money," Ahlenius wrote. (If Ahlenius wants thrift...how 'bout the Chamber footing the hospital bills in McAllen for the treatment to the thousands of illegals who flood their waiting rooms for free ....just for starters?) "A wall around their homes and businesses will give the legislators and Washington bureaucrats a better understanding of what kind of message this action will send. (Here's the message....It's a BORDER FENCE...and the message is pretty damn clear.....keep your butts out of our Country if you can't come here legally.)
"Let’s see if they decide to climb over it, tunnel under it, or walk over it." (Yep...and let's see if  LEGAL American citizens feel compelled to trample the streets of downtown McAllen to shop for Christmas.) Ahlenius’ grab for the news spotlight comes six weeks after a confidential U.S. Department of Homeland Security map was leaked to the media, detailing the location of 370 miles of security fence along the U.S.-Mexico border.
Federal officials have since called the map "preliminary," but the document set off a firestorm of protest up and down the Texas border with Mexico (Don't expect local lopsided Meximerica media hacks here to mention the 'firestorm' of support FOR the construction of the BorderWall.)
Ahlenius, who has been vocal about the negative impact the fence could have on McAllen’s burgeoning retail sector (Here's hoping the PRO-WALL contingent will have an equal "Negative Impact") , said he wrote the e-mail to try to garner more attention for the issue. "It’s really a tongue-in-cheek thing to bring some focus in on how silly their proposal is," he said. (Meanwhile, the vast majority of LEGAL American Citizens realize Ahlenius is far more concerned with his Mexican counterparts.....than with the United States)
"In Washington (D.C.) they don’t speak the language and understand the culture down here." (The language is English...and the "Culture" is American. If Ahlenius can't hack that...give him a few remedial hours at Taco Tech)
As of Tuesday afternoon, Ahlenius said he had only received a couple of media phone calls, one from an Univision outlet in Miami that conducted a quick interview. (Univision operates in the United States as a Spanish Speaking TV Network...so we know where Ahlenius is coming from)
McAllen Mayor Richard Cortez — who had yet to read the e-mail when contacted Tuesday afternoon — dropped high praise on Ahlenius for his efforts.
"I’m glad he’s taking a proactive role in bringing attention to this issue," the mayor said. "There has not been a proper debate on the issue of the border fence and immigration yet." (Wrong... Mayor...the debate ended over two years ago...and Border Fence funding has been approved. Your best efforts would be spent in Mexico....encouraging your illegal pals  to stop swimming the Rio)
As for Ahlenius, while Congress probably won’t be approving his plans for a wall around Washington, D.C., anytime soon, he remains hopeful plans for the fence here will be scaled back. "Like us putting a wall around Washington (D.C.), how silly is that for us to talk about? That’s how we feel about what they’re doing," Ahlenius said. (Silly to Ahlenius...but dead serious to the rest of us who remember September 11, 2001)
"We’re trying to put to people — what would you do if they decided to build a fence around your town?" (Last time I drove South of McAllen... Mayor Cortez had a fence all around his property? Ask him about fences)

El Cenizo, Texas - Safe Haven for Illegals
A national disgrace.  This town not only promotes illegal residency but it has a law against picking them up.

Mexican President Blasts U.S. Immigration Policies.
Mexican President Felipe Calderon blasted U.S. immigration policies Sunday 9/2/07 promising to redouble efforts to protect the rights (the right to be in our country illegally?) of millions of undocumented (the word is illegal) Mexicans living in the U.S. (at least he's honest about it...as he claims they're living here, not working here)...  He said "where there's a Mexican, there's Mexico.  "Mexico does not end at its border."  Well, Felipe...the United States does have borders.  Get used to it.  Someone needs to ask Felipe how illegal aliens from Guatemala, ElSalvador, Honduras...etc...are treated in Mexico.  C'mon Felipe...the Spanish word for border is...well...uhhh...Rio Grande River.  That's where our border begins.  No swimming, wading or fishing permitted.  Comprende, amigo?

No Border-Wall Coalition's Recent Rally
The latest in a series of community rallies to oppose the building of a wall along the border in the Rio Grande Valley will be held Sept. 29 at Dean Porter Park in Brownsville, Texas and is being sponsored by the No Border Wall coalition.  ("No Border Wall" is another way of saying.. "no restraint"...no problem amigo)
The No Border Wall coalition is a grassroots organization of groups and individuals united in the belief that a wall along the U.S. Mexico border will do irreparable harm to the borderlands. (Notice how these folks seem totally oblivious to the 'irreparable harm' done to private ranchland by horads of Northbound illegals) {see News and Comments Review photo pics on this Web Page.)  No Border Wall is opposed to the construction of a barrier because of the harmful consequences such a structure would have on the border environment (Right...these folks and their willing home-grown media accomplices actually figure we'll buy that crap) with Mexico. (If it's realtionship...why not direct their hostility against Mexico for urging their own people to wetback their way to the U.S.) The proposed wall would cut a wide swath through the city of Brownsville and actually cut off a portion of the University of Texas at Brownsville’s campus. (guess they figure a small protective swath across Taco Tech is a lot more dangerous than a full-scale homeland invasion) Outside the city, landowners and farmers could lose land and access to the river for irrigation. (A Border Fence will ebb the flow of the Rio Grande River?)  A double-layered wall and Border Patrol road could also cut through nearby natural areas of critical habitat such as the Sabal Palm Audubon Sanctuary and the Nature Conservancy’s Southmost Preserve. (Biirds take precedence over homeland security?) Construction of extensive fencing and roads would virtually cut off endangered species such as ocelots from getting to the Rio Grande to drink. (Ocelots have done a pretty good job adapting over the last 2000 years on their own) The festive, family event will highlight the culture and community spirit of Brownsville with a variety of food booths and live music. (Really serious anti-borderfence people here) Community leaders including state representatives Eddie Lucio III and Juan Escobar will be on hand to voice the concerns of their constituents. (The vast majority of us are more concerned about protecting our borders from the onslaught of illegal aliens, drugs, disease, crime and terrorism)  Experts will also be on hand to discus the negative impact a border wall could have on Valley communities, historical landmarks, farms and natural areas. (Looks like river rafts, diaper-filled, can-littered paths across private ranchland...are now considered "historical landmarks."

And....Roma's Rally
Hey...isn't this the same place where hundreds of Mexican kids cross the border bridge each day to attend school in the U.S.? {See story at the bottom of this page)  Betty Perez, organizer and ranch manager hopes that the protest will "show what will happen to recreation events if a wall is built."  Since when is floating a raft illegally across the Rio Grande River considered a recreation event?  She also claims that 90% of the people are against the building of the fence.  This gal is watching way too much Mexican TV.  Fact is, well over 80% of Americans are damn well demanding that the fence be built.  Joel Quintanilla, Mayor of Mercedes, Texas claims that he's against the fence "because I don't believe that is the solution."  That's like saying, shooting illegals on sight would be the most effective solution, but since we can't do that...just live with it.  Salvador Vela, Mayor of Alton, Texas doesn't believe in a border wall because "illegal immigrants should be given amnesty.  Well, Mayor...what have illegals done to deserve a piece of the over-generous welfare pie that you, I and other LEGAL Americans have paid for?  He also claims that illegals are "doing the jobs that we don't want to do."  He must be referrring to the ravishing and polluting of miles upon miles of private ranchland by an endless hoard of lawless wetbacks.  Maime Rodriguez, another protester says "the people who attacked {911} didn't come across the border.  Fact is, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM "came across the border."  Somebody find out what that gal is puffing on.  No wonder she doesn't want border security.

And Yet Another "Rally"  09/08/07

"It's a protest...but it's also a fiesta thing"...(huh...a fiesta is a celebration...so what's being celebrated?)  there will be a booth with information...it'll be an educational thing," according to organizerJuan Torres.  If these Meximericans really want educational facts they oughtta check our news and comments section.  Illegal immigration is costing us a few hundred billion a year, not to mention the issue of homeland secutiry.
"It's mostly culture oriented" (what Juan means, it's Green, White and Red all over with a few 'Viva la Mexico's in-between.) "We've got a lot of support among winter Texans (funny, since no winter Texans are anywhere around here this time of year) "Why don't they build a wall on the Canadian border" asked one hispanic protestor. Well, for starts, Canada hasn't invaded the United States with millions of welfare seeking non-English speaking expectants.  "What kind of message will it send to our brothers in Mexico" asked another protester.
How but this message:  ILLEGALS...KEEP YOUR BUTT OUT OF OUR COUNTRY!  Plain enough?

And Another "Protest Against the Fence"
Calling themselves "Hands Across El Rio" (Spanish lingo here...humm) the event came to the Los Ebanos Ferry Crossing (especially funny since only a handful of cars can cross at this site) on the way to Brownsville from El Paso.  At each stop, elected officials, businessmen, activists and citizens have joined hands in a united show of opposition to the Bush adminstration and Congress (in reality, it's opposition against the vast majority of Americans who want this fence built.)  They claim the border wall is an unworkable solution to border security.  Well then, what would they suggest in lieu of the fence?  Only answer I ever get is "nothing will work."  So...the demonstration isn't really against the building of a fence at all.  This contigent of Meximericans simply want a wide open, unchecked border.  What better place to be checking ID's and green cards then at a "Hands Across El Rio" border demonstration.!

Roma,Texas... where Mexican kids get an "American" education.  Oh, did we mention...free? All these kids need to do... is give a Texas address.. not too hard to do...'cause there's plenty of illegals living in the area.  Each day dozens (actually hundreds) of Mexican children walk across the border bridge and jump aboard school buses (yep, U.S. school buses paid for by U.S. taxpayers) which carry these kids to school.  School officials (who really like this system because it means more Federal bucks i.e. enrollment numbers) claim they can't ask students if they're U.S. citizens.  Well, our Border Patrol is supposed to be asking...so what's the problem?  School officials claim students here don't do without because the school gets Federal funding.  Right... Federal funding  grows on cactus trees.  The number of mooching Mexicans number over 650 at this little school alone...with estimates as high as 1000.  Incidently, Starr County Texas (Roma, Texasland) is  the 2nd poorest County in the Nation.  Now we understand why.  Another school official explained it this way, "we're all one people."  Right, and the tooth fairy hands out tacos in the High School cafeteria.

BROWNSVILLE — About 100 residents came to Dean Porter Park Thursday for a public hearing on the border fence. Most spoke vehemently against the fence, citing humanitarian (what's humanitarian about allowing hoards of unchecked illegals to cross our border without criminal background/health screening?), economic (what's 'economic' about allowing an invasion of illegals across the border to sap the financial resources of our citizens?) and environmental concerns (I guess littered ranchland isn't much of an environmental issue with these folks) but others said they supported its construction. Representing thousands of members of Valley Interfaith (a contingent of left-wingers who are bent on allowing everyone free entry across our border), Rev. Jerry Frank voiced strong opposition to the fence, saying the billions to be spent on the proposed fence could be better applied to children insurance programs (Frank's real focus is on handing out welfare to illegals), college education (worthy/needy legal residents have no problem obtaining funding) , teacher salaries (wasn't the Texas Lottery supposed be the answer i.e. funding public education) , roads and levees. (and Mayor Pat wants a weir.)
Mayor Pat M. Ahumada Jr. called the hearing in order to comply with the Oct. 15 deadline set by U.S. Customs and Border Protection to provide public input on the proposed fence. (Somebody needs to tell Mayor Pat that the time for debate over the Border Fence ended a year or so ago...when the bill was passed and the money was appropriated.)
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is planning on roughly 70 miles of fencing in the Rio Grande Valley, which some attendees supported. "Be legal or be gone," read a cardboard poster that resident James Myers kept by his side. He complained of immigrants taking jobs away from Americans.
"I say get rid of illegals," Myers said. "I don’t care how." (Best way to do that is to ...build the Border Fence...then fine anyone who rents or sells a house to an illegal...and take away the business license of every business who hires a single illegal.) Like Myers, Cuban Monsees showed up to voice his support for the wall. Monsees, a dual U.S.-Mexican citizen who owns a home on the river, says he has "had to defend the property," from undocumented immigrants trespassing. (Amen for this man)
Ortiz and other lawmakers maintain that the decision to construct a fence in South Texas was made without any input from Rio Grande Valley leaders. (It's a National Security Problem...yet local lawmakers seem bent on being part of the problem) "We have been talking to the Homeland Security Committee. We have been talking to almost everybody. We have been talking to them until we are blue in the face and we don’t seem to get much from them," (we all know...the real reason for their opposition to the fence.... has nothing to do with the color blue.)

Tancredo upsets McAllen Mayor
Republican presidential candidate Tom Tancredo labeled some border mayors as "rogue" for refusing to cooperate with the federal government’s efforts to construct the proposed border fence in some parts of Texas. Tancredo, a congressman from Colorado, also suggested in a news release earlier this week that the fence could be built north of U.S. border cities that don’t go along with it. (Great idea except for the fact that illegals would still on American soil....spreading disease, committing felonies and sponging welfare and medical services compliments of the U.S. taxpayer) Tancredo’s comments came after The Associated Press reported earlier this month that some U.S. border leaders had denied some access to federal workers doing preliminary work on the fence. (if only these guys were as worried about illegals on the land...those who really  have no right to be here)  "I’m glad he said it, because all it means is he wrote his own obituary," McAllen Mayor Richard Cortez said. "Nobody like him can possibly be elected to a leadership position in this country."  (Somebody please inform Mayor Cortez...in a friendly-spirited way...that Tancredo is an elected (multi-terms) United States Congressman...not a first-term Border Mayor type of guy) Brownsville Mayor Pat Ahumada said Tancredo’s comments were "not constructive" and added those who vehemently support the fence — such as Tancredo — are "being driven by fear or racism."
(And now Mayor Pat plays the race card,,,,as if opposing illegal immigration is somehow... racist.  Wasn't Ahumada  the one who oppsed the fence because...it'd be too expensive...or, wouldn't work...or wouldn't  look good...or would ruin downtown shoppping...or...well...a weir would be better.  What whould we call Ahumada...for opposing efforts to control illegal 'Mexican' immigration?  Amigo?)
While Rio Grande Valley residents and elected officials alike may oppose the fence, Tancredo said, it "is a national security issue and we all have to pay the price and make some sacrifice."
Tancredo said a physical barrier is the best option to stop "the invasion that is occurring," referring to the influx of undocumented immigrants to the country.
He also said the fence sends a symbolic message to Mexico.
"It says clearly, ‘Here’s where one country ends and another one begins,’" Tancredo said. "Short of sending someone an atlas, this is the next best thing."
Cortez said a fence could impede the billions of dollars of trade that comes through the country’s borders.
(Illegals count for billions of dollars of trade?  Funny)
Ahumada said he invites Tancredo to visit the border and see for himself how it would affect the community. (Tancredo has been here.  Blocking the flow of illegal immigration and the sponging of this Country's resources by those who have no business being here...would indeed "affect the community" Mayor Pat.  Positively.)
